I joined the 15 day tour in Mexico City and met the group of 11, plus Ernesto our tour guide. The next morning we did an interesting walk in the city, visiting the Cathedral, National Palace, food market, flower market and seafood market. Lots of yummy food and drinks to try and delicious seafood for lunch – ceviche, sashimi and grilled fish. There was an international festival in the Plaza Major with singing and dancing on the main stage. In the evening we went up the Torre Latino for drinks and great views and then to dinner with mariachi music.
Our tour went to Puebla, Oaxaca, where we did a fabulous cooking class and a full day combination tour, San Cristabal de la Casis (boat trip in the canyon and local village of San Juan Chamula), and Palenque. Enroute we went to an amazing series of turquoise waterfalls, almost as good as Iguazu and then to some great Mayan ruins at Palenque.
From Palenque we then drove to Merida where we swam in 4 different underground sink holes (cenotes). Our last stop was at the beach at Playa del Carmen and we visited Chichen Iza enroute.
This tour would suit anyone who wants a taste of adventure with like minded people. It is from 18 years to open age. Most of the group were in their 30’s but also several 50+. We all got on well and had lots of laughs.
I loved Mexico! It is one of my favourite countries for the variety of scenery and lots of music everywhere.
