25 Sept – 07 Oct 2020 – 12 Nights for $4,455 per person

Departing in September 2020, this 8 day walk will take us through beautiful medieval villages, provide breathtaking views, and don’t even get me started on great expansive wine country. We will walk from the border of Portugal in Tui to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Each days walk will be at a leisurely pace in order to enjoy the countryside and soak up the atmosphere of this historic pilgrimage.

25 Sep Depart Auckland
26 Sep Arrive Dubai - Transfer on arrival to overnight accommodation. Half day City Tour with Dubai Museum included. Entrance to Burj Khalifa (124th Floor). Desert Safari with BBQ Dinner in the evening with traditional Belly-Dancing, Camel rides & show.
27 Sep Arrive Porto -Transfer on arrival to accommodation for two nights.
28 Sep Half day tour of Porto
29 Sep Arrive Tui for the start of the Camino de Portugues. This 7-night itinerary starts in the town of Tui, located on the natural border with Portugal - the River Miño. Completion of this 155 km / 71-mile route makes you eligible for the Compostela pilgrim's certificate in Santiago. Overnight in Tui.
30 Sep Tui to Porriño, 16.2 km - The popular starting point of the Portuguese Way in Galicia, the Camino from Tui and follows woodland paths before entering the mining region of O Porriño, where colossal granite quarries are to be seen in the distance.
01 Oct Porriño to Redondela, 15 km -Walking on paths which are more than two millennia old, today's Camino follows parts of the old Roman road. A day of gentle climbs and descents ends at the small town of Redondela, famous for one of Galicia's most colourful Corpus Christi festivals.
02 Oct Redondela to Pontevedra, 19 km -Today's highlights include the medieval bridge of Ponte Sampaio, where Napoleon's army was ultimately defeated in Galicia, and the city of Pontevedra, home to the famous Pilgrim Virgin's church, whose foundation forms the shape of a scallop shell.
03 Oct Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis, 21.6 km - A pleasant walk through woodland and farmland finishing at the little spa town of Caldas de Reis, known for its curative thermal waters. Here you will find the only church in Galicia consecrated to Saint Thomas of Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury and Chancellor of England in the 12th century.
04th Oct Caldas de Reis to Padrón, 18.2 km - Today's walk is considered by many as one of the most beautiful on the whole route. After walking the green Bermaña and Valga valleys we reach the town of Padrón, where according to tradition the Apostle St James first landed on Galician soil. The parish church has the legendary Pedrón, the stone where St James' boat was moored.
05 Oct Padrón to Santiago, 24.9kms - The final stage of the Camino Portugues, walking through woodland before climbing to reach your destination: Santiago de Compostela, a UNESCO World Heritage city. As the final day's walk is fairly long, you may not reach Santiago in time for the noon Pilgrims' Mass. Overnight in Santiago de Compostela. If wanting to attend the noon service you are advised to arrive at the Cathedral 1 hour before to ensure you get a good place inside the Cathedral.
06 Oct Santiago de Compostela - Additional night in Santiago de Compostela to head out to the Atlantic Coast where the English Pilgrims would have landed at Fisterra. This is also the traditional end point for the Camino where Pilgrims will often throw Trinkets (even their shoes!) into the sea.
07 Oct Santiago de Compostela - After breakfast arrangements end and you are free to your own arrangements.
Costs are based on a minimum group size of 10 people. If the group drops below 10 costs will increase subject to availability. Single and land only pricing available on request. As Itinerary ends in Santiago de Compostela you are free to add your own arrangements and we can confirm your return date & departure ex Europe on Emirates once decided. A non-refundable deposit of $800 per person on confirmation and the balance will be due by 24 July 2020.
